Bahrain Grand Prix may have to be cancelled

Formula One's season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix on March 13 may have to be called off due to civil unrest in the country, commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone told Reuters on Thursday.

"We'll make a decision by Tuesday or Wednesday (next week)," he said.

"If things stay as they are today, the answer is no," he added when asked whether he felt the race at Sakhir circuit would go ahead.

I think Eccelstone has said the decision will be made next Wednesday.

Formula One Management will absorb the $40 million (£24.7 million) cost of the cancelled Bahrain Grand Prix, Bernie Ecclestone has told Telegraph Sport.
